Bob Seger No More Touring After the Loss of Alto Reed

Bob Seger's last tour was his farewell, but now it appears to be a farewell with an exclamation point following the death last December of Silver Bullet Band saxophone player Alto Reed from colon cancer.

Appearing on SiriusXM last week, Seger recalled their last conversation. "I listened really hard to him, and he said 'how grateful I am for my wonderful life.' ... I thought that was so beautiful, and I thought he was so brave. I don't think I could go out (on tour) without him."

Among Alto's more notable contributions to Seger's music are his opening on "Turn the Page" and his solos in "Old Time Rock and Roll" and "Mainstreet."

Seger's last show on his Roll Me Away farewell tour was November 1st at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.
