Remembering John Entwistle On His Birthday

Born on this day in 1944, John Alec Entwistle was an English bass guitarist, singer, songwriter, and film and music producer. In a music career that spanned more than 40 years, Entwistle was best known as the original bass guitarist for The Who and the only member of the band with formal musical training. He was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1990.

In honor of the man affectionately known as "The Ox" and "Thundefingers," check out a tribute to John above, and his isolated bass track from "Won't Get Fooled Again."
