Happy Birthday! Manfred Mann

Born on this day in 1940, Manfred Sepse Lubowitz (pka Manfred Mann), the British keyboard player, guitarist, and vocalist, and founding member and namesake of the bands Manfred Mann, Manfred Mann Chapter Three and Manfred Mann's Earth Band, turns 83. Mann's storied musical career dates back to 1964 when he had a succession of hit records with his first band: ("Do Wah Diddy Diddy", "Sha La La", "Pretty Flamingo", "Mighty Quinn"). When the group split in 1969, Mann immediately formed Manfred Mann Chapter Three, an experimental jazz-rock band. After they disbanded in 1971, Mann formed Manfred Mann's Earth Band, which still records and performs to this day. Their well-known hits included 3 Springsteen covers, "Spirits in the Night", "For You" and "Blinded by the Light", as well as "Runner", "Davy's on the Road Again", "You Angel You", "All Through the 80's" and "Joybringer". Here are a few classic videos in honor on Mann's birthday.
