Born on this day in 1963, Richard John Cyril "Rick" Allen - the English drummer who has played with Def Leppard since 1978, becomes the newest member of Rock's Sexagenarian Club. Rick famously overcame a tragic car accident on New Year's Eve 1984 that resulted in the amputation of his left arm in 1985 and continued to play with the band using an electronic kit that he could play using only one arm. He has become a true inspiration and an example of overcoming the odds to pursue your dreams.
