Born on this day in 1948, Michael David Rock, aka Mick Rock, the English photographer, best known for taking iconic photographs of rock music legends such as Queen, David Bowie, T. Rex, Syd Barrett, Lou Reed, Iggy Pop and The Stooges, The Sex Pistols, The Ramones, Joan Jett, Talking Heads, Roxy Music, Thin Lizzy, Mötley Crüe, and Blondie, would have turned 75. Sadly, we lost mick on November 18, 2021, just shy of his 73rd birthday.
Often referred to as "The Man Who Shot the Seventies." it was a real thrill to welcome Mick to Dallas in September of 2019 for his ICONS show at the Public Trust Gallery. Prior to the event, I had the privilege of bringing Mick to the "outta" control room at Lone Star 92.5 for an on-air visit with Bo & Jim that was so fun, it extended across THREE segments.
