Deep Purple Releasing a Deluxe Edition of 1972's 'Machine Head'

Deep Purple will release a deluxe edition of their 1972 album, Machine Head, on March 29th. It contains new mixes (one by Dweezil Zappa) and previously unreleased live recordings. Zappa’s remixed stereo version of “Smoke on the Water” is out now on YouTube and other streaming services. It was Dweezil’s dad, the late Frank Zappa, whose ill-fated show in Switzerland inspired the song.

In other Deep Purple news, condolences to former Deep Purple guitarist Steve Morse on the death of his wife, Janine, on February 4th from cancer. He left Purple in 2022 to take care of her. Morse also leads the Dixie Dregs and is a former member of Kansas.  The full story of Janine Morse's passing is here on Steve Morse's Official Facebook Page.
