Mark Knopfler Gets 60 Rockers Together to Raise Money to Fight Teen Cancer

Even as “The Greatest Night In Pop,” a doc about the making of “We Are The World,” catches viewers’ attention over on Netflix… members of the rock community have said “hold our beer.” Dire Straits singer/guitarist Mark Knopfler has announced he’s re-recording his 1983 track “Going Home (Theme From Local Hero)”… but he’s doing it with 60 rockers.

Confirmed to be a part of the recording, which aims to raise money for British charity TeenageCancer Trust and American counterpart Teen Cancer America, has confirmed Eric Clapton, Peter Frampton, David Gilmour, Joan Jett, Brian May, Slash, Bruce Springsteen, Sting and lots of others.

Fans of late great Jeff Beck will also be thrilled to know the song includes the final recording made by the musician before his death early last year. “Going Home (Theme From Local Hero)” available for pre-sale on various formats now and is due out in full on March 15th.
