Peter Frampton Pays Tribute to Inventor of Guitar Talkbox

Bob Heil, who created the talk box for guitar, died late last month of cancer at age 83. Peter Frampton wrote, "I am so sorry to hear of the loss of my friend for so many years....he gave me a very important present [in the] mid seventies. The Heil Talkbox!! Can never thank Bob enough." Frampton’s two biggest songs to feature the device are the live versions of “Show Me the Way” and “Do You Feel Like We Do.” Others who used it are Joe Walsh on “Rocky Mountain Way,” Aerosmith’s Joe Perry on “Sweet Emotion,” Richie Sambora on Bon Jovi’s “Livin’ on a Prayer,” Nazareth on “Hair of the Dog,’ Steely Dan - “Haitian Divorce,” Pink Floyd - “Pigs (Three Different Ones),” Eagles on “Those Shoes,” and Motley Crue on “Kickstart My Heart.”

Here's what Joe Walsh had to say on his Official Instagram site about Heil.
