On This Day In 1975 Lynyrd Skynyrd Delivered 'Nuthin Fancy'

Released on this day in 1975, Nuthin' Fancy is the third studio album by Lynyrd Skynyrd. Featuring the top 40 hit "Saturday Night Special" it was their first album to break the Billboard Top 10, peaking at #9. It was certified Gold two months later, on June 27, 1975 and Platinum one month after that on July 21, 1987. by the RIAA. While the album was the band's first record with new drummer Artimus Pyle it was also the final album for guitarist Ed King, who got tired of Ronnie Van Zant's drinking and subsequent violence surrounding the band, and left in May of 1975.
